With a Grasshopper Pass

There’s a lot to see and do in Aberdeen City & Shire so having a handy ticket to get around is almost an essential. From commuting to and from work (or school/college) to getting out n about in the great outdoors GrassHOPPER makes the journey so, so simple

Your GrassHOPPER ticket can be used with the following operators.

You can buy a day or weekly, paper or smart ticket from the driver.

If buying on the bus you can purchase a paper ticket and pay with cash or card.  If you have a Stagecoach, First Bus or GrassHOPPER Smartcard you can purchase ANY ticket on-bus and pay with cash.  Just tell the driver the Zone and type of ticket (day or week, adult or student) and they will load it onto your card. You will receive a paper receipt, please keep this as its your proof of purchase in case your card does not work.

You can buy a day or weekly paper ticket from the driver.

If buying on the bus you can purchase a paper ticket and pay with cash or contactless payment.

All other operators

You can buy a day or weekly smart ticket from the driver.

If buying on-bus you will need a Smartcard.   Use your existing Stagecoach, First Bus or GrassHOPPER card.  If you don’t have one the driver can give you a free GrassHOPPER card or you can phone 01467 536600 to request one by post.  You will need to tell the driver which Zone and type of ticket you want (day or week, Adult or Student).

You will need to pay using cash.  You will receive a paper receipt, please keep this as its your proof of purchase in case your card does not work.

Ticket Terms & Conditions

GrassHOPPER tickets are only valid for journeys starting and ending within the GrassHOPPER zones covered by your ticket.

Tickets are valid on the bus services of participating operators, including Park & Ride services, but excluding the following special services: services operated by Megabus or Scottish Citylink; First Bus Gig and Go services; Stagecoach P&J Live specific services; late night services; Aberdeenshire school bus services.

Day tickets expire at midnight on the day of purchase.

Weekly tickets are valid for 7 days, including the day of purchase, and expire after 2359 hours on the 7th day.

Each time you purchase a Smart GrassHOPPER you will be issued with a receipt as proof of purchase. This is not a ticket but you are recommended to carry it with you when travelling.

Each time you board a bus using Smart GrassHOPPER you must present the smartcard that holds your ticket to the driver.

If you lose your smartcard you can ask for a replacement. If there is a Smart GrassHOPPER Day or Weekly ticket on the smartcard it will not be replaced or refunded.

If you have bought a Smart GrassHOPPER but you have forgotten your smartcard when travelling you must buy a ticket to travel and any such ticket purchased will be non-refundable.

Smartcards and tickets are accepted subject to the usual terms and conditions of each participating bus operator.
