About Grasshopper

How it Works

Grass Hopper Cards

Find out more about the STAGECOACH SMARTCARD and the FIRST SMARTCARD.

The GrassHOPPER ticket is a smart way to travel in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

  1. Decide what tickets suits you best.
  2. Buy a Day or a Weekly pass to complement how often you travel.
  3. Depending upon where you are travelling to and from, you can choose from one of six zonal tickets.

Whichever card you have can be used for travel with any GrassHOPPER operator. If you don’t already have a smartcard you can get one from your favourite bus operator. First Bus cards are available from their Travel Shop on Union Street, or for any other operators simply ask the bus driver when you are buying your GrassHOPPER ticket. Once you have a smartcard you can re-use it again and again, so don’t throw it away when your ticket expires.

If you have a ScotRail smartcard you can use this to purchase GrassHOPPER tickets from GrassHOPPER bus operators.

Using your Smartcard

How do I renew my smart GrassHOPPER ticket?

Simply place your smartcard onto the ticket reader and tell the driver which GrassHOPPER ticket you require. The driver will then load the new ticket onto the smartcard. Stagecoach can also issue future dated tickets from their travel shops at Union Square, Peterhead and Fraserburgh.
